Rentals for Students
Film Objetkiv prides itself on being a community-driven endeavor. A huge part of any community is the concept and promotion of education. While we have a great resources section that will be better organized and much more filled in the future, Film Objektiv wanted to do more to help students shoot more film.
Here, we offer student cameras at a discount. As long as you can find the deposit, we charge only $10 plus our shipping costs and let you keep your cameras for up to two months (if planned in advance and if that time is specifically needed for a particular project). Any fully-manual camera with a rental price under $50/mo eligible to be a student camera. The cost of the rental (minus the $10 plus shipping) will be returned to you upon receipt of the gear at the end of the rental period. Students also receive ten percent off any other rental once their application is approved.
All of the other stipulations of renting through Film Objektiv (including the 100 Words assignment) still apply. Students are also still responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or other mishaps that the rented gear might face.
Students may order/reserve a camera and check out at any time, but you must submit your application within 12 hours (if not in advance) to verify your student status. Students who successfully complete one rental may begin another upon the receipt of their 100 Words assignment from the previous rental. The same one-camera-at-a-time rules still apply, but may be forgiven on a case-by-case basis for the right, ambitious photo project with limited stipulations.
