A $500 deposit is also required with this camera. The Canon AE-1 builds on the popular A-1 with the some stripped back features, but a lighter build and improved controls in several ways. The viewfinder is rather large, and the built-in meter still enables faster shooting in scenarios in which it might not always be simple to quickly change settings for an appropriate exposure. In other scenarios, the built-in meter simply helps with accurate exposure when without a proper light meter.
